The startup of Sather’s Precision Machining (SPM) began in 1976 as a small job shop, short-run and proto-type facility in Austin, Texas servicing and producing precision devices for local customers such as Eagle Signal, University of Texas Astronomy, Geology and Geophysics Departments, Xetel, M/D Totco, Carbomedics, Data General, Houston Instruments and Howard Systems. As the semiconductor industry grew in Austin throughout the 80’s and 90’s, SPM commanded more of its business from Motorola, Advanced Micro Devices, Texas Instruments, and Samsung. Continuing to grow, SPM has now diversified into the orthopedic and medical components industry as well. SPM’s products are marketed and distributed worldwide.
